Hey this about Slashing not Scaring
I know that we are not talking about people that are always scary. What we are talking about is those people that you really don't want to come across. They have sharp knives, hooks, chains, chainsaws, they boil burn, and basically mutilate bodies. These are the type of characters that for some reason we keep going to see over and over again. They have become some kind antiheros in our culture.

What Makes a Slasher?
Well, we're talking about those horror movies that took place where many teenagers were killed in various places for no reason. The Slasher is the guy in the woods that kills the campers for having sex, he is the guy who kills the teenagers for doing drugs, he kills the adults who don't believe in the supernatural. Basically, the slasher is the type of monster of person who chops, dices, slashes, and slices up people and splatter blood all over the walls.

The Beginning of the Slasher
In earlier days of horror movies, many morality codes kept blood from being shown on the screen. Now people were still scared and by no means does blood=scary. It wasn't really until color was added to the screen that blood really started to fly.

The Golden Age of the Slasher.
Welcome to the 80's. We're talking Friday the 13th, April Fools Day, Hellraiser, Nightmare on Elm Street, Silent Night Deadly Night, Halloween, and the list goes on and on. Thsi is where people had a fascination with going and watching people get chopped up.

The New Age of the Slasher
Look, when a script knows it is a script, doesn't mean it is a smart script. A smart script stays one step ahead of the viewer, but takes them along for the ride. Scream has ruined a lot of slasher flicks.
